About

Her Majesty's Royal Chapel of the Mohawks is the last surviving structure of the original Mohawk Village settlement of 1784. The village, settled by Joseph Brant, was in what is now known as Brantford, Ontario.

Mohawk Chapel, for short, was built in 1785. It's the oldest surviving church in Ontario and one of three designated Royal Chapels outside of the United Kingdom.

The church's age isn't its only impressive feature. The sanctuary houses Brant's tomb, and its 200-year-old cemetery is filled with the area's past residents. One of the main attractions is the building's eight stained-glass windows. These beautiful works of art tell the story of the Haudenosaunee people and their history.
