About

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established the Maratha Empire in the 17th century. Shivsrushti, a large theme park in Pune, now stands in honor of his legacy.

Visitors are welcomed into a grand, fort-like building. The theme park is divided into multiple sections based on various aspects of Maharaj’s life and achievements. One section, for example, is dedicated to his forts, and recognizes some of his most important fortifications such as Sinhagad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, and Sindhudurg.

Another section displays weapons from the Maratha Empire era. The gallery has a replica of one of Maharaj's three swords. Along with that, there are many other old weapons for display including the dandpatta (gauntlet sword), wagh-nakh (metallic tiger claw), and katyar (punch dagger).

Visitors can also enjoy a unique 4D experience of Raigad Fort in a simulation video. The video has drone shots of the fort which transform into animated shots of how the fort may have looked once upon a time. There are several other important episodes of Maharaj’s life—including battles and victories—explained in another show as the stage rotates 360 degree.

In another hall, visitors can see reproductions of several historical paintings depicting Maharaj. Information plaques explain that the original paintings are displayed at several museums across the world, including cities like Mumbai, London, Paris, and Amsterdam, as well as The Hague.

This wonderfully conceptualized and designed theme park provides visitors with a unique and wholesome experience.
